Wells Class Starship

In the Star Trek fictional universe, the Wells Class starship is a class of Federation starships from the 29th century, that are capable of "timeslip", transporting itself to any point in time and space. This class first appeared in the episode Relativity. The U.S.S. Relativity (NCV-474439-G) was a Wells-class Starfleet ship encountered by the U.S.S. Voyager. Her crew claimed to have come from the 29th century. Not only can the ship warp through time and space, it also has transporters capable of beaming personnel and equipment through time as well. The ship's design was radically different fom anything the Federation ever produced. All common features of a 24th century starship ship are gone. The ship has a small single hull with warp nacelles that are more pod like and appear to lack the bussard collectors or a warp field grills. Weapon systems aboard the ship were unknown. There appeared to be phaser strips along the hull, but no visible torpedo tubes. The ship also had shielding to protect itself from effects of a timeline paradox and other temporal anomalies. The mission of the Relativity was to prevent the destruction of the Voyager from a temporal bomb that was planted on board. The Relativity was under the command of Captain Braxton until he was placed under arrest by his subordinate Lieutenant Ducane for crimes Braxton was going to commit. The dedication plaque aboard the Relativity states that it is the seventh ship to bear the name. Its registry number suggests that it is the eighth. The dedication plaque contains a quote from Albert Einstein - "The only reason for time is so everything doesn't happen at once." The class is appropriately named after H.G. Wells, author of "The Time Machine."
