Weird Sisters

The Weird Sisters, or three weird sisters, are the germanic mythologic group name given to the nordic fates, or Norms. They are Urth or Wyrd, the fate of the past and of general fate; Verthandi, the fate of the present and necessity; and Skuld, the fate of the future and "being" and "should" (what should be). In Shakespear's Macbeth, they were represented by the three witches. The name of the first, Wyrd (also Urth), was often used as the name of the three, or the Wyrd Sisters. The Weird Sisters were said to live at the base of the World Tree, Yggdrasil, which was the link between Heaven and Hell.
