WCBS-TV (CBS 2 New York), the flagship station of the CBS Television Network, was founded in 1946. Channel 2 was branded as simply that from 1946-1997. In 1997 channel 2 adopted the CBS 2 name along with L.A. and Chicago. In 2000, CBS 2 was lagging in ratings and brought in Joel Cheatwood as news director He came up with the CBS 2 Information Network, using content partners such as, US news and VH1. After 9/11, CBS 2 toned down its graphics and the information network. In 2003 the station hired Diane Doctor to run the news. The CBS 2 Information Network was back to CBS 2. CBS 2 had broadcast rights to the Yankees from 2002-2005.
