Wax AppleThe wax apple (syzygium javanicum, Eugenia javanica) is a crimson-colored, bell-shaped fruit grown in tropical regions such as Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, and India. Alternate names for the wax apple include java apple, water apple, jambu air ("water apple" in Malay), and wax jambu. It is part of the myrtaceae (myrtle family). While it is just as crunchy as a regular apple, it is juicier and sweeter than an apple. The wax apple is a short tree no more than 45 feet (14 m) tall; the opposite leaves are aromatic when crushed. The bell-shaped fruit's pith is like cotton.
