Washington Huskies

Washington Huskies are the athletic teams at the University of Washington. The term properly applies to any sports team at the school. The University of Washington is a NCAA Division I-A, Pacific Ten Conference school.
While the American football program has been the most prominent, University of Washington athletics has enjoyed a storied tradition in several other sports, notably rowing. The Husky has been the official school mascot since 1922, when it replaced the "Sun Dodger." An Alaskan Malamute serves as mascot during football games. The current mascot, the eighth to hold the position, is King Redoubt.
