Washington County is a county located in the state of Vermont. As of 2000, the population is 58,039. Its county seat is Montpelier ⁶.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,801 km² (695 mi²). 1,785 km² (689 mi²) of it is land and 16 km² (6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.90% water.
