Warrant Card

A Warrant Card is a proof of identification and authority for Police Officers. The term Warrant Card is normally used only in British and Commonwealth countries. Many other countries refer to their equivalent of warrant cards simply as police identification cards. Warrant cards generally includes a photograph of the holder, as well as the holder's name, rank, and warrant number. The warrant number is equivalent to a badge number in other police services. A warrant card is usually displayed alongside a badge showing the officer's constabulary. Warrant cards grant the bearer all the authority of a police officer, but do not necessarily grant the officer the right to search any property or person. This right is granted by a search warrant, not a warrant card.
