Warracknabeal, Victoria

Warracknabeal, population 3100 is a wheatbelt town in Victoria, Australia. It is in the Yarriambiack Shire local government area. Warracknabeal is 330 km north-west of Melbourne on the banks of Yarriambiack Creek. It is the business and services centre of the northern Wimmera and southern Mallee districts. The town's name is believed to derive from an aboriginal expression meaning "place of big gums shading the water hole". The original owners of the area were the Wotjobaluk aboriginal people.
