Warbucket

WARBUCKET is a community web site hosted by Tengun Networks which enjoys great popularity among Warcraft players; its main focus is gaming and Blizzard Entertainment games. It is comprised of a humorous comics, drawn by the user known as DRLEGO, a news front page and web forums. The news page takes the form of a collective weblog where a number of writers post news and opinions about the Blizzard community, gaming and the web in general. Unlike other notorious webcomics, the Warbucket comics are not published on a regular basis. Their humour is quite comparable to Penny Arcade but is generally directed at insiders of the community, while Penny Arcade covers the entire gaming and entertainment scene. A common subject of the Warbucket comic is the relative immaturity of some Blizzard forum users and battle.net gamers.

The forums, which are among the largest innofficial forums in the Blizzard community, are the heart of the site. The forums place little restriction on their users and allow for the discussion of controversial topics that would otherwise be avoided. Nevertheless, the site has received quite a lot of publicity and is quite well known among the gamers' community, with many of the administration crew being great fans of Blizzard Entertainment.

The Warbucket Forums

Warbucket's forums are powered by Invision Power Board, version 2.0.0. The main colors of the forum are various shades of brown, tan, and beige. The forum's icons and buttons have a cartoonish look to them, resembling characters in the site's comic. Warbucket allows a large amount of space for avatars, the maximum being 180 by 200 pixels. Many of Warbucket's members have avatars made especially for them, enhancing the board's atmosphere. Post count is not displayed when viewing topics, but member titles change as one posts more. In addition to the generic set, custom titles are awarded to members who stand out among the crowd. The Warbucket forums are divided into various sections. Today's Mayhem: The atmosphere in this forum is very similar to that of General Mayhem, a larger community. Today's Mayhem functions as the heart of the Warbucket forums, with more posts than any of the other subforums. The discussions are usually nothing serious, and flaming is common, especially to those new to the boards. Common topics include sex-related humor, shock sites, and stories about Warbucket's members.

SchoolBucket: This forum is Warbucket's newest addition, created on October 10th, 2004. Although being a subforum of Today's Mayhem, spam is not tolerated in the forum. SchoolBucket functions as a place to discuss school-related issues and request help for coursework.

Events & Politics: Also known as WEAPONS (World Events, Administrations, Politics, Opinions, News, Science.) Members use this forum to share opinions about well-known issues. Flaming does occur, but the topics, for the most part, remain serious and on-topic. In addition, Events & Politics has two subforums, NWO, which is a place to discuss the New World Order conspiracy, and Debate Wars, a home for heated political debates.

Entertainment: This is the common place to talk about movies, television, and hobbies on Warbucket. Quote and movie-guessing games are also done here.

Music Discussion: The name is self-explanatory - members come here to talk about songs and genres of music.

The Sports Corner: Discussions about sports, and predictions of upcoming sports events are shared here.

Blizzard Discussion: This forum is divided into 4 subforums, all having to do with Blizzard Entertainment. These forums are Warbucket III Replays, Starcraft and Brood War Replays, Warbucket Alliance Guild. This section is also home to the forum of Warbucket's official Warcraft clan, teh clan FaP.

PC/Console Gaming Talk: Games are generally discussed here, and thoughts on upcoming releases are also talked about.

BucketWare: Discussions about computers and troubleshooting occur here. A thread is available with torrents to software, with a disclaimer that the members will only download from there if they already own a copy. A How-To subforum is also available, containing useful computing guides, including guides on removal of spyware and viruses.

PaintBucket: Warbucket's members share their artwork here; whether it is related to Warcraft or not. Several members have also used this forum to share and ask advice on layouts for their websites. Contests and graphic "wars" also take place here.

Pie Eaters: Warbucket's pornography forum. The name is a parody of the comedy American Pie. Pornographic sites and passwords are shared here, as well as links to pictures, audio clips, and movies. The forum is not visible to guest members.
