WaratahThe Waratah (Telopea speciosissima) is a large shrub that generally grows to about 3 m tall. The NSW Waratah is native to areas in the Sydney geological basin, Central and South Coast districts, and in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia. The plant typically grows in sandy loam soils, along ridges and plateaus. The Waratah is the floral emblem of the state of New South Wales, and also the emblem of the New South Wales Waratahs, a super 12 Rugby Union team. Waratah, New South Wales is also a suburb of the city of Newcastle.
