Walter HarrimanWalter Harriman is a fictional character in the science fiction television series Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, played by Gary Jones. This character's name has been a source of irritation for many fans of "Stargate SG-1". Originally, the character was simply "Technician" or "Sergeant". In season two episode "1969," in which SG-1 goes back in time, General Hammond (who is currently only a lieutenant) addresses the character as "Airman." Many fans misuderstood the dialogue and assumed Hammond addressed him by the name of "Harriman." At some point, some of the writers gave him the name "Norman Davis". Eventually the character gained a name tag on his uniform that clearly said "Davis." In the episode "2010", he is addressed by Jack O'Neill as "Walter". Thereafter his name was assumed by most fans to be named "Walter Davis". In the eighth season of "Stargate SG-1", the character is addressed as "Sergeant Harriman". Walter Harriman is a master sergeant in the United States Air Force, assigned to Stargate Command. He is primairily a stargate technician, running the dialing computer and other equipment from the Control Room. His duties, at times, seem to include a sort of administrative assistant position to Brigadier General Jack O'Neill. Harriman, Walter Harriman, Walter
