Waiving ImmunityWaiving immunity is an unusual option that can be offered in reality shows. It gives a player with immunity from elimination the choice to put themselves in danger of being eliminated. In all the reality shows that have implemented this option, no players have ended up using it. A common tactic used by immune players is to claim they will waive their immunity before the elimination vote, but go back on their word when the time comes. Other players try to convince the immune player by teasing their ego, such as "It would take a lot of guts to give up your immunity" or "If you waive your immunity and survive the elimination, then you'll really have something to brag about." To the viewing audience of reality shows, the option of waiving immunity is a way of adding an edge of suspense to the plot. The Apprentice Although not offered as an option, Bradford Cohen did offer to waive his immunity on the second season of The Apprentice. Donald Trump accepted his waiver after confirming that Cohen was sure about what he was doing. Ivana Ma, Cohen's project manager, believing he was a strong player who would not be fired, chose Cohen as one of the two candidates to accompany her into the boardroom. Surprising many viewers and shocking Ma, Trump fired Cohen, stating that a rash decision of this sort could seriously harm a company.
