WaiThe W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) is an effort to allow people with disabilities to access resources on the World Wide Web. The W3C was founded in 1994 to advance the World Wide Web. It is responsible for the development of uniform protocols to assure the interoperability of the Web. The WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative), part of the W3C, has developed a number of guidelines that can help to make Web sites more accessible, especially from the view of physically disabled people. Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) This Web Content Accessibility Guideline 1.0 (known as WCGA) was developed in 1999. The WCAG are a set of guidelines on making content accessible, primarily for disabled users, but also for all user agents, included highly limited devices, such as Cell phones. Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines (ATAG) Developed by the Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines Working Group; the ATAG 1.0 became a W3C Recommendation on the 3rd February 2000. The ATAG are a set of guidelines for Authoring Tool developers (HTML editors) in both creating a tool which is accessible to disabled end users, and a tool which creates accessible web pages. User Agent Accessibility Guidelines (UAAG) Developed by the User Agent Accessibility Guidelines Working Group the UAAG 1.0 became a W3C Recommendation on 17 December 2002. The UAAG are a set of guidelines for User Agent developers (such as Web browsers and Multimedia Players) aimed at making the User Agent accessible to disabled users.
