Wael Abdul Latif

Wael Abdul Latif was a member of the Interim Iraq Governing Council created following the United States's 2003 invasion of Iraq. A Shia Muslim and a judge since the 1980s, Latif was imprisoned for a year under Saddam Hussein's regime. In July 2003, he was appointed governor of Basra.
