Wachau

The Wachau is a valley formed by the Danube river. It is located in Austria between the towns of Melk and Krems and is 30 km in length. A well-known town is Drnstein, where King Richard the Lion-Hearted of England was held captive by Duke Leopold V.
Wachau is also the name of a municipality in the district Kamenz in Saxony, Germany, see Wachau, Saxony.
