Voltage-gated Ion Channel

Voltage-gated ion channel is a ion channel that is specifically activated, or gated, by the surrounding potential difference near the channel (or near the cell, neuron or synapse). Similarly, an ion sensitive field effect transistor represents the same structure at a higher degree of resolution.
