Volsung

In Norse mythology, Volsung was the father of Sigmund. He was murdered by the Geatish king Siggeir. Ironically, in Beowulf, when the Geatish warrior Beowulf has killed Grendel, a Danish bard at Hrothgar's court sings about Sigmund and his father Waels.
