Vlf Transmitter Woodside

The VLF transmitter Woodside is a VLF transmission facility near Woodside, Victoria in Australia. It was until 1997 a part of the OMEGA navigational network is since then used as transmitter for transmitting orders to submarines on the frequency 13 kHz. As aerial an umbrella aerial is used, which is carried by a 432 metre high guyed steel framework mast. This mast is the highest construction on the southern hemisphere which may change when the solar chimney in Mildura is built. See also: List of masts
