The writer is Selphie Trabia, the Webmaster is Cabbage and Coffee Guy Lestat (a.k.a "Lanos") is their advertising agent. The comic was first published in August, 2004. Virus Manga follows the story of Kariudo Yuri, a girl living in furture Tokyo, Japan in the year 2035. A technological advancement has made it possible for computer viruses and programs to enter the real world. Her brother Kariudo Yoh, partnered with his program Yuki are two elite hunters in this new age, Yuri however, has had little contact with programs and their 'evil' counterparts. But this changes when a program enters her life via her computer, the ensuing turmoil reveals a deeper secret about this world, about the viruses, programs and the humans that bind them. The online manga is currently in its first issue with promised updates to come in November, 2004. It will explore the relationship between Yoh and Yuki, introducing the hint of Shounen Ai present in most Shojo manga recently. It will also introduce the battle grid system for viruses and programs as well as the abilities of these beings. All strips are available free of charge from kabukiyasha.net and in the Anthology published by The OzTaku Gang as well as in self-published booklets.

About Viruses and Programs

Viruses and programs in the manga can take form in the real world, but most viruses do not have a physical body, they are forms of energy created by the cybernetic and real world matrix that basically modifies reality to a degree comfortable for the humans living in it. Organic beings cannot trenscend this network and thus humans cannot fight Viruses so they enlist the help of Programs. Programs, despite having organic bodies, have the ability to contact the viruses on a cybernetic level. Some humans are able to fight viruses directly, by using CyberThrough, a process by which they gain the same 'contact' as programs.

Characters

Note that the surname is written before the given name(s) since the manga is based in Japan.
  • Kariudo Yuri (Hunter Lilly) - Japanese Junior High student, a friendly and usually cheerful girl. She lives with her brother after their parents disappeared. The circumstances have not yet been revealed in the manga.
  • Virus - A program that appears first in the end of Chapter 1 (Online Issue 1), he partners up with Yuri to fight the viruses that threaten the new world. Not much is known about his past however.
  • Kariudo Yoh (Hunter Leaf) - Yuri's brother, a Senior High student, elite Virus Hunter. He is fairly weird by all accounts but does care a lot about his little sister. He is also a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield.
  • Yuki (Snow) - Yoh's program, he is hailed as one of the most powerful partnered programs around, there is also a hint of something else between him and his human partner. Yuki is the calm and sophisticated type, but like all programs seem to have a slight lacking in showing off their emotions.

Groups

  • Cyber 17 - A group of Virus Hunters that seek to destroy all viruses that dare trespass (and often even not) in the real realm. The members are often considered extreme and wear garb that is influenced by Catholicism.
  • Gin Gang - Yuri's group of friends, an odd mixture of people that somehow manage to fit together and not destroy the schools they are in.
  • Virus Control: Tokyo Division - A special task force that monitors and sends out reports of Viruses breaking loose into the real world matrix, they maintain the constant network of information between the Cybernetic Realm and the real world.
  • Yohtaku - An obsessive horde of fangirls. Play on the word Otaku.
  • The Virus Generals - A mysterious number of Viruses with powers beyond normal and physical bodies.

Insanity Team
