Vinette, Ontario

Vinette is a rural community in the city of Clarence-Rockland. It is located in the northwest quadrant of Clarence-Rockland that is bordered within Canaan, Baseline, Joanisse and Vinette Roads. The community was named after the Vinette family of farmers who settled in Clarence Creek. The Vinette name can also be written as "Vinett" or "Vinet". They are all the same family. In early times most farmers were not literate and so there have been slight variations in the last name over the years but the pronunciation is the same: Vee-Net. These names in its different written forms can be found on many landmarks across Ontario, such as Vinett Lake in Parry Sound.
