Since 1989 there is a HVDC-back-to-back station with a maximum transmission rate of 500 megawatts and an operating voltage of 176 kV. The HVDC-back-to-back station Vindhyachal is used for the interconnection of the power grids of East and Central India and built by ABB Group.
