Vincente Minnelli

Vincente Minnelli was the professional name of Lester Anthony Minnelli (February 28, 1903 - January 24, 1986) who was born in Chicago, Illinois. Although an accomplished film director of the 1940s and 1950s, he is best known as the father of Liza Minnelli from his six-year marriage to Judy Garland. He directed numerous films, mostly musicals, including Meet Me in St. Louis (1944), An American in Paris (1951), Brigadoon (1954), Kismet, (1955), Gigi (1958). His last film was A Matter of Time (1976). He was the only surviving child of Vincent Minnelli, the conductor of the Minnelli Brothers' Tent Theatre. Minnelli is credited with inventing the crab dolly for movie cameras. On his passing, he was interred in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendale, California.
