Vincent PericardVincent Pericard is a French Association Football (soccer) player, born October 3, 1982 in Efko, Cameroon. He currently plays in England for FA Premier League club Portsmouth F.C. A talented striker, Pericard came to the notice of Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp after impressing for Italian club Juventus against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League. Vincent Pericard initially moved to Portsmouth on loan for the 2002/03 season. Pericard began his Portsmouth career in superb fashion, scoring on his debut in a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest, although he struggled with injury in the latter half of the season. Despite this, he impressed enough to earn a permanent switch in July 2003, having scored 9 times in 32 games as Pompey won the Division One title. Pericard was a regular in the side at the start of the 2003/04 season, but broke down with a torn thigh muscle in late September. He returned to the first team in December, but then badly damaged a cruciate ligament in a Reserve comeback game which ended his season. The problem was such that he was forced to have an operation in France in the summer of 2004 in a bid to solve the problem. He has spent the 2004/05 season thus far rehabilitating.
