View Park-Windsor Hills is a census-designated place located in Los Angeles County, California. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 10,958.

Geography

View Park-Windsor Hills is located at 33°59'37" North, 118°20'49" West (33.993662, -118.346950). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.8 km² (1.9 mi²). 4.8 km² (1.9 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 10,958 people, 4,539 households, and 3,041 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 2,274.7/km² (5,895.8/mi²). There are 4,738 housing units at an average density of 983.5/km² (2,549.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 5.37% White, 87.98% African American, 0.17% Native American, 1.11% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 1.15% from other races, and 4.15% from two or more races. 2.71% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 4,539 households out of which 23.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.3% are married couples living together, 19.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.0% are non-families. 28.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.40 and the average family size is 2.94. In the CDP the population is spread out with 20.3% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 26.4% from 25 to 44, 28.2% from 45 to 64, and 19.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 44 years. For every 100 females there are 84.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 79.3 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $59,961, and the median income for a family is $81,247. Males have a median income of $51,461 versus $42,445 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $34,382. 5.1% of the population and 3.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 4.2% of those under the age of 18 and 3.2% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
