Vernon Boulevard-jackson Avenue (Irt Flushing Line Station)Vernon Boulevard-jackson Avenue is the first station in Queens. This station has two wall platforms and two tracks with fare control at the platform level at the Vernon Boulevard (south) end, and three steps above the platform at the Jackson Avenue (north) end. There is no crossover or crossunder. The name tablet shows "Vernon-Jackson Aves." and there are directional mosaics "to Vernon Ave." and "to Jackson Ave." This station was the site of a night station agent being killed for the tokens. The result of this incident was a change in policy where night station agents do not have to empty the turnstiles after the evening station agent leaves unless police are present, a supervisor is present, or another employee is present (and that is left to the option of the station agent). Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue (sometimes known as Vernon-Jackson) is the last stop in Queens on the 7-Flushing Local. It has 2 tracks and 2 side platforms. There are 4 exits: 2 at each end. There is an 24-hour exit/entrance at the west (Vernon Blvd) end on both platforms and a part-time exit only at the east (Jackson Av) end. There is a wall between the tracks, therefore there is no free change between directions. There are yellow support columns along the platforms and mosaic tiles. Despite its name, the station is not located at the intersection of Vernon Boulevard and Jackson Avenue. It is located on 50 Avenue, near Vernon Boulevard.
