Venetia

Venetia is a name used mostly in a historical context for the area of north-eastern Italy formerly under the control of the Republic of Venice and corresponding approximately to the present-day Italian administrative regions of the Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Under Austrian rule from 1797 to 1866, the territory was combined with its western neighbour in the Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia during the years 1815 - 1859. Venetia is also a name used for a place in the State of Pennsylvania in the United States of America: see Venetia, Pennsylvania. Venetia is also the title of a novel written by Benjamin Disraeli in 1837. See Venetia (novel).
