Vemana

Vemana is a Telugu poet who lived in the 15th century AD. He has composed numerous poems in Telugu in a metre called Aata Veladhi. The poems deal with various social problems and they propose some solutions too. A few lines of Vemana's poems managed to become colloquial phrases of the Telugu language. Poems end with a signature line called Viswadhaabhi Raama, Vinura Vema.

Uppu Kappurambu okka polikaga nundu
Chooda chooda ruchulu jaada veru
Purushulandu Punya purushulu veraya
Viswadhaabhi Raama, Vinura Vema
roughly translates to -- Although salt and camphor look alike, they can be distinguished easily by taste. So are virtuous people different from the normal run.
