Vclav Kliment KlicperaVclav Kliment Klicpera (1792-1859) was czech playwright, prose-writer and poet, founder of czech drama (especially comedy genre). Born in Chlumec nad Cidlinou. Graduated gymnasium (1813) and philosophy (1816) and medicine (1818) studies in Prague, in June 1819 was named for professor at gymnasium in Hradec Krlov. In 1850 he became schoolmaster of gymnasium in Prague. He had merit in change of chivalric plays in historical dramas with patriotic purport, that became base of modern czech drama writings. Everlasting worthiness also have his low comedies (in czech frasky), that follow tradition of platon comedy. Author of romantic historical stories, plays from his epoch and with fairytales motives. He supported advancement of czech theatre by issues of plays (edition Divadlo Klicperovo (English: Klicpera's theatre)). Died in Prague, buried at Olsany graveyard. Best known plays - Divotvorn klobouk, 1820
