Valiant Is The Word For Carrie

Valiant Is the Word for Carrie is a 1936 film which tells the story of a woman who runs an orphanage, fighting for the children against tough odds. It stars Gladys George, Arline Judge, Harry Carey, Isabel Jewell and Hattie McDaniel. The movie was adapted by Claude Binyon from the novel by Barry Benefield. It was directed by Wesley Ruggles. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress (Gladys George). In 1938, the Three Stooges made a short called Violent is the Word for Curly, a takeoff on the name of this then-popular film.
