Vale Of The Red Horse

Warwickshires shrine to the pagan god Tysoe is a huge figure of a horse sacred to Tiw the god of war. The figure was cut into the red clay of the hillside. After Christianity became established grass overtook the figure, which gave its name to the Vale of the Red Horse.
