V600

The V600 is one of Motorola's higher priced phone models (approx. $350 USD retail). It combines the reliability of the popular V60 series and the bells and whistles (such as J2ME and a color screen) of the T720 series, and also adds many new features, such as Bluetooth and an integrated camera. Some say, however, that the V60 series is not reliable, and T720 is the discount model, so these comparisions do not bode well for the potential buyer. The V600 is very important to international travellers because quite often they already have a Research in Motion BlackBerry to do their email, but until the release of the 7290 model, they had only worked on either the 900mHz or 1800mHz GSM frequencies. In order to get reception in every country that has GSM, the V600 operates on the GSM/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900 bands (In comparison, the GSM version of the T720 only operates on the 850/1900 bands). The only current U.S. carrier is T-Mobile USA (its own version actually has 850mhz reception removed by T-Mobile), but was also earlier carried by AT&T Wireless and Cingular it was discountinued because of a software version for Cingular. The V600 did so well for Motorola that they released many new types of V series phone , the Motorola V180, V220, V400, and V500, v505, v550 (and carrier specific model types on each of these). These particular phones are almost all quad-band as well, except when buying directly from Cingular, these versions are tri-band instead. The successor of the V600 is the V620 followed by the V635. New features include video recording and menu themes, including an Aston Martin theme.
