Uss Port Royal (1862)

The USS Port Royal was a United States Navy sidewheel steamer gunboat commissioned in 1862, active in the American Civil War, and decommissioned 1866. The USS Port Royal was one of five federal gunboats which confronted shore-based batteries along the James River below Richmond, Virginia during the Battle of Drewry's Bluff on May 15, 1862 during the Peninsula Campaign.
