Uss New JerseyAt least two ships of the United States Navy have borne the name New Jersey, after the third U.S. state. - The first New Jersey (BB-16) was a battleship commissioned in 1906, decommissioned in 1920, and sunk in 1923 in bombing tests.
- The second New Jersey (BB-62) was a battleship commissioned in 1943, seeing much service in World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War. It is presently a museum ship in Camden, New Jersey.
- In 2004, the United States Navy announced that it would be allowing tourists to stay overnight on the ship. For $45 per person, the guests would sleep in a "coffin bunk" overnight, participate in drills and tours, and eat Navy chow.
External link The USS New Jersey tour is excellent. They show all over the ship, including the bridge, main gun turrets and the secondary guns. I would strongly recommend touring this ship.
