Uss Leyte

Three United States Navy ships have been named USS ''Leyte'', after the island of Leyte in the Philippines, off which the Battle of Leyte Gulf occurred in 1944.
  • The second Leyte (ARG-8) was a repair ship commissioned August 1944 and renamed Maui in May 1945 so as to make name available.
