Uss John S. Mccain

Two ships of the United States Navy have been named USS ''John S. McCain'', in memory of the two Admirals John S. McCain. The elder John "Sidney" McCain (1884-1945) served in World War II. The younger McCain, known as "Jack," served during the Vietnam War.
  • The first USS John S. McCain was a destroyer-leader, later converted to a destroyer. Commissioned in 1953, she was named solely for the elder McCain.
