Us-2/us-41 (North Of Escanaba)

This segment of freeway near Escanaba, Michigan, USA was originally intended to be a full freeway, but it never had any grade-separations at the intersections when it was built. One probable reason for this problem was opposition to harming wetlands. This segment of freeway was built in the 1960's. On this corridor, there are blue service trailblazers that are generally found on Interstate highways. There are no traffic lights on any intersection of the highway, but there are at-grade intersections. This highway is a good candidate segment for a future Interstate 55 or Interstate 43 extension from Wisconsin. This divided corridor is also one of the few divided highways of the central Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
