Urquhart Castle
Urquhart Castle
sits beside
Loch Ness
in
Scotland
along a strategic travel route between
Fort William
and
Inverness
. It is close to the hamlet of
Drumnadrochit
. It is not known precisley when the castle was built, but records show the existance of a castle on this site from the early
1200s
. The building was blown up in
1692
to prevent it becoming a
Jacobite
stronghold.
