United Democratic Front

This article is about the United Democratic Front of Malawi. There is also a United Democratic Front in Namibia.
The United Democratic Front claims to be a liberal party in Malawi. The party is a member of Liberal International. Bakili Muluzi, who was president of Malawi from 1994 to 2004, was a member of the party, and as of early 2005 he is its chairman. Muluzi's successor as president, Bingu wa Mutharika, was a member of the party as well when he was elected in 2004, but after taking office, he came into conflict with much of the party, including Muluzi, and he left the party in February 2005.
