The Union of Evangelical Baptists of Spain (Unin Evanglica Bautista Espaola) is a fellowship of Baptist churches in the nation of Spain. American William J. Knapp left in 1876, but Eric Lund of Sweden came in [1877, reviving the work begun by Knapp. A Unin Evanglica Bautista Espaola was founded in 1922, and then a Spanish Baptist Convention in 1929. The present union is the 1929 organization. They adopted the name of the previous organization, Unin Evanglica Bautista Espaola, in 1953. The Union is a member of the European Baptist Federation and the Baptist World Alliance. In 1995, the Union had 65 churches with 7700 members. The current (2004) general secretary of the Union of Evangelical Baptists of Spain is Manuel Sarrias Martinez. Other Baptist organizations in Spain include the Association of Independent Evangelical Baptists of Spain (Asociacin de Iglesias Evanglicas Bautistas Independientes de Espaa), the Independent Baptist Federation (Federacin de Iglesias Evanglicas Independientes de Espaa) and the Indepedent Baptist Fellowship (Comunin Bautista Independiente).
