Unikont

Unikont is a eukaryotic cell with a single flagellum. Some current (2005 A.D.) research suggests that a unikont was the ancestor of Animals, Amoeba and Fungi, and a bikont (a eukaryotic cell with two flagella) was the ancestor of Plants and all other eukaryotes. See Thomas Cavalier-Smith
