Ubol Ratana

Princess Ubol Ratana (ทูลกระหม่อมหญิง อุบลรัตน์ฯ, Full name: ทูลกระหม่อมหญิง อุบลรัตนราชกัญญา สิริวัฒนาพรรณวดี "Tunkramhom Ying Ubol Ratana Ratchakanya Siriwattana Pannawadi"), born April 5, 1951, is the oldest child of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit Kitiyakara of Thailand.

Biography

She was born with the titles of Her Royal Highness and Princess, but gave up her royal status on marrying the American Peter Ladd Jensen, whom she met while studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She later did graduate work in public health at the University of California Los Angeles. They have three children. After years of rumored marital problems their divorce was officially announced in 1998. Ubol Ratana returned to Thailand where she now acts in a semi-official capacity as "public relations princess". One of her children, Bhumi Jensen, was drowned on 26 December 2004 in the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake disaster. Ubol Ratana
