U.s. Highway 81

United States Highway 81 is a north-south United States highway. The original 1926 highway was a border-to-border route, but decommissioning in the 1990s brought the southern end from Laredo, Texas to Fort Worth.

Termini

As of 2004, the highway's northern terminus is just north of Pembina, North Dakota at the Canadian border, where it continues as Provincial Highway 75 -- which is also a continuation of U.S. Highway 75, which crosses the border from neighboring Minnesota. The northernmost 15 miles (24 km) of US 81 are co-signed with Interstate 29. Its southern terminus is in Saginaw, Texas, just north of Fort Worth, Texas, at an intersection with Interstate 35W. The southernmost 60 miles (97 km) of US 81, from Bowie, Texas are co-signed with U.S. Highway 287.
