Typo Demon

The Typo Demon is blamed, in many online forums, as the cause of all accidental blunders originating at the keyboard. The usage of the term originated in the recesses of Internet Relay Chat, or, simply, IRC. Its use progressed through the usual channels (Bulletin Board System, Chat, Instant messenger), and became the excuse of choice for poor or accidental typing in a fast-paced chat. If, for example, in an online RPG in a Lycos chatroom, someone accidentally typed "sord" and meant to type "sword", they may then come back with the following:
Sword* ((AARG@Typo Demon))
and the typist may not be subject to criticism. Note that, though it originated there, the typo demon is almost never mentioned in forums where the language of choice is strictly l33t.
