turbolift

A turbolift is a highspeed human transport device in the Star Trek universe which is similar to an elevator. However, the cars also go sideways to reach designated destinations in a ship. It is a part of the United Federation of Planets starships infrastructure. A Galaxy class ship has a total of four turbolifts. Turbolifts are airtight, watertight, and vacuum resistent. Turbolifts are considered a non-vital system.
