Trump Tower Chicago

Trump Tower Chicago, also known as Trump International Hotel and Tower, is a planned skyscraper in downtown Chicago, Illinois named for famed real estate developer Donald Trump. Slated for completion in 2007, it will be the fourth tallest building in Chicago and sixth tallest building in the United States (if the New York Times Tower is completed by then). The building is 343 meters (1,125 feet) tall and will contain 90 floors for various uses. The tower is being built on the former site of the Chicago Sun-Times building. The buildings design by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill was first released in December, 2001. According to the Chicago Tribune, the company built nearly 50 models before they came up with a design they liked. However, the first design did not meet well with architects and the residents of Chicago. A subsequent revision in July, 2002 resulted in the current established design. In January, 2004, another revision changed floors 17 through 26 from offices into condominiums and hotel rooms. The building is designed to give it a visual continuity with the surrounding skyline. The building has three setbacks. The first setback matches the height of the nearby Wrigley Building, the second setback matches the height of the Marina City Towers, and the third setback matches the height of the IBM Building. The building will also break the world record for the worlds tallest residential building by having condominiums on the 89th floor. The record for the last 37 years has been held by the John Hancock Center. Another one of the building's claims to fame is that the project is being managed by Bill Rancic, who chose the job as his prize for winning the first season of the television reality series The Apprentice.
