True Knights Of God

A self-styled knightly orderhttp://www.chivalricorders.org/orders/self-styled/selfstyl.htm has posted the following description of its origins, quoting no historical source. The only order whose sovereignty is widely recognized, as a result of having once ruled Cyprus and, later, Malta, is the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.http://www.smom.org/other/index.html http://www.heraldica.org/topics/orders/maltasov.htm. A French order is one that has been founded or recognized by the French state. A religious order, in the Catholic sense, is one that is officially recognized by the Catholic Church.
The True Knights of God was a Sovereign French Military Religious Order founded in 1099 in the area of Jerusalem by Godfrey de Bouillon. The order sought to bring Christian rule to the area it claimed as a Holy Land. The order was revitalized as the Chevaliers de Notre Dame (de Sion) in the 1980s by Rev. Paul Martin Ngo Dinh Thuc, Archbishop of Hue, Vietnam, and Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, Grand Master of the Ordre in France.
