Tristar-class CruiserThe Tristar-class cruiser is a common medium fleet starship in the Robotech universe, one of the few vessel classes which is shared between both the Robotech Expeditionary Force and the Army of the Southern Cross. The class leader, UES Tristar, is General Emerson's flagship during the Second Robotech War, and is destroyed when she rams a Robotech Masters Mothership. The class was phased out of the Robotech Expeditionary Force's space fleet by the early 2040s. Tristar, like most early-period REF ships, resembles a large submarine and is designed to base from a planet, so its size is little greater than an oceanic Aircraft Carrier. Its primary weapons are retractable into the hull to minimize drag on ascent and lower the risk of catastrophic damage on descent.
