Trick (Movie) Trick (1991) is an American gay comedy movie directed by Jim Fall. The story takes place in Manhattan and concerns two guys-- Gabriel (Christian Campbell), a struggling composer, who meets and becomes smitten with Mark (John Paul Pitoc), a go-go boy in a gay bar. The two meet again in the subway, where they begin to get to know each other, later deciding that they need to find a place to have sex. The movie is ostensibly about the humourous tribulations the two men face in trying to find a spot for a simple sexual encounter. Later, they begin to realize that a sort of love is budding between them, and that there's more to gay intimacy than sex. This movie appeared at the Sundance and Berlin film festivals in 1999. It was sharply criticized for its implausibility (in New York, locations for quick sex are not hard to find) and off-topic segments (as with entire audition sequences notably replete with B-level acting talent).
