Trgu Neamt

Trgu Neamţ is a town in Neamţ county, Romania, on the Neamţ river. Originally a market town, hence its name (in Romanian "trg" = market), it had an important role in the Moldavian culture. The origin of the name neamţ is derived from Slavic nemeti meaning "mute" or "German" (derived from first meaning - a German was a person that did not speak their language). Whether it was or not a Teutonic settlement is still under dispute.
