Trey Parker

Randolph Severn 'Trey' Parker III (born October 19, 1969) is one of the creators of the television series South Park.

Biography

Parker grew up in the small town of Conifer, Colorado. As a kid, he drew a figure named Mr. Hankey, who would go on to become a holiday symbol of South Park. Parker has a black belt in tae kwon do, and was an honor student in high school, which he attended in Evergreen and Fairplay, Colorado. Parker has played the piano since he was 12, and when he got his first big check, he bought himself a Steinway grand piano. Parker transferred to the University of Colorado at Boulder after a year at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. At CU-Boulder, he studied film and classical music. While double-majoring in Japanese language and music, he lived in Japan for a period. In the early 1990s, Parker met Matt Stone. The two created two cartoon features featuring the four boys who would be the main characters in South Park. Parker and his family are the basis for the fictional character of Stan Marsh. Even the fictional character of Wendy Testaburger is based on one of Parker's old flames. With Marc Shaiman, Parker was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Song for "Blame Canada" from .
